Southern Boone Boys Soccer begins the Class 2 District 11 tournament tonight against Knob Noster in Ashland. The Eagles are 17-4-0 on the season and ranked #7 in the most recent MSCA state rankings. The Eagles have won their last 7 games as they set out to win their 9th straight District Championship. The first game of the district tournament is against the 4th Seeded Knob Noster Panthers. This is the first meeting ever between Knob Noster and Southern Boone in Boys Soccer. The Eagles are 2-0 against the other opponents in this district, Southern Boone defeated Boonville early in the year 7-1 and won a tough battle against Father Tolton 2-1 in Double Overtime just last week.
Here is how the rest of the district opponents look;
The Father Tolton Blazers are seeded 2nd in this district with a 7-13-2 record. Their record is a little deceiving as the Blazers have played a very tough schedule. The Blazers defeated Jefferson City 2-0 earlier this month (a team that Southern Boone lost to 1-0 earlier in the year). Father Tolton’s only game against a district opponent this year was their 1-2 loss to Southern Boone. They will play Boonville in the first round of the tournament and the winner will face the winner of the Southern Boone vs Knob Noster game.
The Boonville Pirates are seeded 3rd in the district with a 4-12-2 record. Their record against district opponents is 0-1-1 as they lost to Southern Boone earlier in the year 1-7 and they tied Knob Noster 0-0 in the Warrensburg Tournament in the early part of the season.
The Knob Noster Panthers are seeded 4th in this four team district with a 2-16-1 record. The Panthers are 0-0-1 against the teams in the district, with just their 0-0 tie against Boonville. Knob Noster has lost their last 7 games heading into districts and 13 of their last 14.
Here is the bracket for the district tournament, with dates and game times. All games will be played at Southern Boone High School.
