2018 Southern Boone Classic Wrap-Up

The Southern Boone Boys faced off against the old, familiar foe of Hallsville in the Championship game of the 35th Annual Southern Boone Classic.

The Eagles came out shooting in the 1st Quarter as they took a 23-17 lead behind 5 3-pointers (3 by Brady Trammell). In the 2nd Quarter, the Eagles put on the defense and held the Indians to 5 points, while scoring 17 themselves, to build a 40-22 halftime lead.  But the Indians showed why they are ranked #4 in Class 3.  Hallsville went on a 17-2 run to start the 3rd Quarter to pull within 3 (42-39).  The Eagles closed the quarter on a 14-7 run of there own to take a 56-46 lead into the 4th Quarter.  Again, Hallsville wouldn't go down without a fight and pulled within 4 points a couple of times before Southern Boone was able to pull back away with defense and free throws (Eagles were 15-18 from the line for the game).

Southern Boone won their second consecutive Southern Boone Classic (a first in the history of the Classic for a Southern Boone Boys team) 68-57.  Sam Stichnote and Rece Gilmore both scored 21 points for the Eagles (Sam on 7-9 shooting from the floor and 7-8 from the line and Rece was 7-12 from the floor (3-5 from the 3-line) and 4-4 from the line himself).  Brady Trammell added 13 points with 3 3-pointers.
