Southern Boone Softball starts Post-Season play today as they take on the Eldon Lady Mustangs at 6 pm in Ashland. Fulton plays Capital City at 4 pm in the other 1st Round Game.

The Class 3, District 9 grouping is one of the toughest Districts in Class 3 with 4 of the 6 teams having 17 or more wins (only a couple of other Districts even have 3 teams with 15 or more wins). Helias is the 1 seed with a 20-5 record having defeated everyone in the District that they played. The Lady Crusaders beat Blair Oaks twice (5-1 and 11-4), Southern Boone once (7-3), Fulton (8-2), and Capital City (10-0). Helias has one of the better defenses in the District only allowing 2.2 runs per game while scoring 7.3 per game. They will take on the winner of the Fulton vs Capital City 1st Round game.

Blair Oaks comes in as the 2 seed with a 19-5 record as they defeated Southern Boone 4-3 and Eldon 9-1. The Lady Falcons did not play Fulton or Capital City. The lost to Helias twice as mentioned before. The Lady Falcons are the only team allowing less runs than Helias (2.1 per game) while knocking out almost 7 runs per game (6.9). They will play the winner of the Southern Boone vs Eldon 1st Round game.

Southern Boone received the 3 seed after losing close games to Helias (3-7) and Blair Oaks (3-4). The Lady Eagles are 17-4 on the season and defeated Capital City 11-1 and Eldon 13-7 but did not play Fulton this year. This has a chance to set up a very good re-match against Blair Oaks. The Lady Falcons beat Southern Boone 4-3 just last week to clinch the Tri-County Conference title. The Lady Eagles are up there with Helias and Blair Oaks as they score 7.4 runs per game only give up 2.3 per game.

Fulton is the 4th seed with a 18-8 record on the season. The Lady Hornets only played two of the teams in the District. Losing 2-8 to Helias earlier in the year and defeating Eldon 16-4 earlier in the season. The Lady Hornets can hit as they have the most potent offense in the District scoring almost 9 runs per game (8.9) but they also give up quite a few (4.2). They face Capital City for the first time ever in the 1st Round as they play at 4 pm today.

Capital City comes in as the 5th seed. The Lady Cavaliers are 7-17 in their inaugural season. They have only played Helias and Southern Boone out of these teams. Losing 0-10 to Helias and 1-11 to Southern Boone. Capital City’s achilles is their offense as they are only scoring at a 3.4 runs per game clip while allowing 5.9 per game. They play Fulton in the First Round today.

Eldon is the 6th seed in this District with a 5-23 record. The Lady Mustangs can put runs on the board (4.5 runs per game) but have a tougher time keeping the opponent from scoring (8.9 runs per game) but you can’t take them lightly. The will play Southern Boone in the First Round at 6 pm today.
