Tri-County Conference Fall Standings

Fall is officially here and that means conference games are finishing up and the playoffs are just around the corner. In Football, there are 3 weeks left of conference games before District’s start. This week Southern Boone will be a part of the Tri-County Conference Game of the Week. The Eagles travel to Wardsville to take on the undefeated and Class 3 #1 team, the Blair Oaks Falcons. The Falcons currently lead the conference with a 4-0 record after beating Hallsville 35-0 last week. The Eagles are 3-1 along with Hallsville and Boonville, still in the hunt for a possible conference championship. As always it seems the path will go through Blair Oaks.

The Eagles bounced back into the win column last week with a 40-21 victory over the Osage Indians. Tyson Smith accounted for 5 of the teams touchdowns as he ran 1 in and pass for 4 others. All 4 of his passing touchdowns went to wide receiver Blake Dapkus. Running Back Tristan John scored a touchdown of his own to finish off the scoring for the Eagles. They currently sit at 5-1 and are currently ranked #8 in Class 3. The Eagles jumped out to a 27-7 halftime, helped with a 4th and Goal stop by the defense as the 1st half expired. Osage was able to make it interesting as they pulled within 27-21 at one point before the Eagles were able to put them away.

Softball will be the first of the Fall sports to start the post season. The Lady Eagles will start District play next week (brackets have not been released yet). Before the Lady Eagles get ready to make a run they will battle Blair Oaks for the Tri County Conference Championship. The Lady Eagles are currently 4-1 in conference (15-3 overall) while Blair Oaks is 5-0 in conference. If Southern Boone defeats the Lady Falcons there is a chance for a 3-way tie for the conference title (Hallsville is also currently 4-1). The Lady Eagles had a good week posting two big wins over Capital City and Versailles.

The Lady Eagles blitzed the Capital City squad 11-1 in 5 innings behind Camryn Schaller’s 4 hits at the plate and 12 strikeouts on the mound. Riece Clevenger led the Lady Eagles with 3 rbi’s while Shelby Reeder and Sydney Anderson added 2 rbi’s each themselves. Against Versailles the Lady Eagles did not muster up as much offense but it wasn’t needed as Camryn Schaller pitched a perfect game, allowing no hits and no walks while striking out 12 batters (her 3rd No-Hitter of the Year). Sydney Anderson, Riece Clevenger, and Zoey DeHaas led Southern Boone with 2 hits each.

Southern Boone Boys Soccer had another good week winning all three of their games. The Eagles traveled to Kansas City on Friday and Saturday to face off against Barstow and St. Pius X (KC). The Eagles faced Barstow first on Friday. They took an early lead on a goal by Rece Gilmore but Barstow was able to tie it up before halftime. In the 2nd Half Southern Boone took over with goals by Trenton Roney and Jack McCluskey alongside an own-goal by Barstow for a 4-1 victory. The Eagles came back on Saturday to face St. Pius X (KC) and took an early lead off a Penalty Kick by Rece. After a lightning delay the game back on its feet and in the 2nd Half Southern Boone took control with a goal by Sam Bondererer off a corner kick play and a goal by Trenton from a throw in from Grant Hoehne to give the Eagles a 3-0 win. Southern Boone then traveled to Canton yesterday for a game. The Eagles scored early and scored often as they took a 7-0 halftime lead on the Tigers. Sam and Grant led the Eagles with 2 goals each while Rece, Brandon Sefton, Ty Delaney, and Johnathon WIlkie also scored in the match. The Eagles are 16-1 and ranked #3 in Class 2 and continue to get ready to defend their District Title at the end of this month.

Southern Boone Volleyball split their Tri-County Conference matches this week. They played a tough California squad close but fell in 2 sets but bounced back to defeat Eldon in straight sets. The Lady Eagles are on the road this next week as they travel to Mexico and Versailles while participating in the Eldon Tournament. Volleyball will begin District play at the end of the month and it will be a tough one with Blair Oaks, California, and Osage all being part of it. The Lady Eagles will be working to get back to the District Championship game and bring home that title.
